Network architects are IT professionals who set up the computer network itself. The IT staffing of network architects is necessary for organizations that need the Internet, intranets, wide area networks, local area networks, and other forms of communication set up. Network systems can be very complex or simplistic, depending on the needs of the organization, with the most sophisticated systems established throughout the world. Architects must not only design the physical aspects of the wireless adaptors, routers, cables and hubs, but must also design how these systems will function. Network architects can also be responsible for security issues and can attempt to develop networks that are engineered in a way that maximizes data security.
